Assessment should guide learning by allowing students to learn along the way as well as be used as a tool determining the next step in a student's program.

Learning Styles
Upon enrollment we encourage each student to take the Learning Styles Profile. Your Educational Facilitator will provide a username and password for you to use. The profile is online at www.aselfportraitonline.net. The results will provide amazing insight into your student's unique style of learning. After you take the profile, you will review the results with your Educational Facilitator. Your Educational Facilitator can help you use these results to build an educational program that fits your student perfectly. The Learning Styles Profile will help you decide which combination of curriculum, activities, texts, manipulatives, and many other resources to use. Please take advantage of this amazing tool!

Renaissance STAR
Dehesa Charter School has partnered with Renaissance STAR to bring students the STAR testing series. These standards-based, online assessment delivers a unique test to each student based on their ability level. Reading, Language Arts, and Math performance-based assessments are provided free of charge for all Dehesa Charter School students. These tests can empower the teacher and parent with timely, diagnostic data that can impact instruction immediately.

The assessment itself is unique in that it adapts to the student's ability, accurately measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. In addition, this assessment measures academic growth over time, independent of grade level or age. Most importantly, the results students receive have practical application to the learning process.

Contact your Educational Facilitator to begin using this assessment tool.

STAR Program
The tests in the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program are an important part of the state assessment system. These tests are administered each spring to measure how well students are achieving state content standards. These achievement tests target English-language arts and mathematics in all grades tested. In addition, tests in science and history-social science are given in selected grades.

The two components of the test administered at Dehesa Charter School are the California Standards Tests and the CAT/6. The California Standards Tests (CST) were developed specifically for California public schools. These tests are aligned to state-adopted content standards in reading, writing, mathematics, history-social science, and science.

Please review grade-level released questions to better understand these tests.

COIN Career Interest Survey
The COIN Career Interest Survey is available to High school students through our counseling department. This survey can give you insight on what careers you would be good at, are interested in, or are adept at. The results of this survey can guide you throughout your High school courses and also assist you in your post-highschool education. Please contact our school counselor to set up an appointment to take this survey.
